As i want to look at some of the ways these two fields influences and compliment each other.
Denise Wellenstein is the perfect example of someone who is both a designer and an artist.
http://www.denisewellenstein.com/
She specialises in both oil painting and graphic designs, such as prints and magazine layouts. From looking at her works, i am interested by Wellenstein's use of colors in both her paintings and designs.

I also really like the sense of griding in her works. As seen with her oil paintings there's a consistent use of gridded form which can also be seen in her page layout designs. I feel that she is very much influenced by the style and forms of her designs, which enable her to create similar structured paintings.
I do find the flow between Wellenstein's works very appealing as she keep a very distinctive style for her artworks and design works. I wish to develope a style for my works as well, however i do find it hard with design as it is not my strongest subject. Therefore i want to work towards to the method of having my artworks to help with my design, similar to Wellenstein.
Another reference i found is 314 Design.

The 314 Design is a collective that does designs as well as illustrations. Similar to Wellenstein's works, 314 Design have a unique style that carries through their designs and artworks.

In a way, 314 Design is very much the same with Wellestein as they all intergrate their works between the fields of art and design. Allowing their artworks and design works influence eachother.
I am very inspired by the way some artist/designers work in both areas of art and design have their works work with eachother by using color and and shapes and forms, which is something i am inspired to do. I want to try bringing my artworks into my design assignments as well.
